MONICA MASNITA
Natural History Museum London
After graduation I had the opportunity to participate in an exciting collaboration project offered by the Natural history Museum. As part of the Lates event called Fashion (e)Evolution, we had to rethink the ways in which our clothes are made and used to help create a more sustainable future inspired by the Natural Museum's collection, either following zero waste principles or sustainability principles.
For this project, I choose to upcycle a used tailored menswear suit, transforming it into a new womenswear look without using extra materials, new fabrics, pattern paper or calico. First, I developed fully digitally; I could experiment with draping for style development and colourways before working physically to create the final look. This allowed me to have zero waste, making the process sustainable for this project.

Tailored Jacket Project - in partnership with Stefan Cooke
A project focused on the tailored suit, in partnership with London-based menswear brand Stefan Cooke, during the second year; as part of the brief, we had to develop a Capsule Collection in line with the brand and its design aesthetic.
